Tornado Poem

I was a fireman in your arms tonight
and you was an ever-grateful rescued girl
with a look in your eyes that said
"I will thank you right".

To your grounds, where I am hallowed,
I was the priest and you my disciple, but
you did the teaching and I merely followed.

We walk and I carry you in the arms of my heart
and your strength, which is recovered,
holds us both up when we are apart.

You falter, I unwaver.
You are unbridled, I am your saviour.
But when all around me is lost
this is the moment you come across.

Bidden, unbidden,
asked or unprompted,
needed and never unwanted,
together and undivided.

Forever, in all these pretty words
all I say is that this is us…today.
